Welcome to our website dedicated to the people of the Maltese Islands to whom the British monarch, King George VI, awarded the George Cross seventy years ago on 15 April 1942.

The Consulate General of Malta in the State of Victoria, Australia, is organising a programme of activities to be held in Melbourne during the second half of April 2012 to commemorate the award of the George Cross to Malta. This website provides background information about this historic event as well as the details of the planned events.

If you live in Victoria, you are invited to participate in our programme by attending the various commemorative events being organised and submitting an entry in the Malta and the Award of the George Cross competition with great prizes for the winning entries.

Wherever you may live, you are invited to share any experiences that you or members of your family lived through in Malta during World War II by posting it on the My Story page.
